Headliner | A Fantasy Newspaper Generator

Headliner is a Fantasy worldbuilding tool and Solo RPG meant to empower writers, and DMs alike to flesh out the often overlooked aspect of any fictional world: the press.

Required Materials:

* Deck of 52 playing cards

* 1 standard die (D6)

* Standard paper (8.5"x11")

* Pencil, Pen or other writing utensil

Headliner is designed to produce entire newspapers filled with whimsical and fun stories in mere moments: it's as simple as drawing cards, rolling a die, grabbing a pencil and writing! In Headliner, there are six categories, or story types, that can be drawn from: Op-Eds, Media, Magic, Sports, Politics, and Food. The category, mood, and specific prompt are all determined by just three factors: the die, the suit of the drawn card, and the card face! All prompts have been handwritten and designed to encourage odd, silly, and memorable stories.

Once you are satisfied with your newspapers, you can freely incorporate them into your worldbuilding setting/Fantasy TTRPG campaign for others to discover and enjoy!

Headliner was made by Will Yarranton as a part of a Tabletop Game Design Challenge at Skidmore College. The first version reflects the original submission, but will likely be expanded upon in the future to include more settings, more refined prompts, and a new game mode.
